The Ridgway Elker can finally bid farewell to their three-game losing streak thanks to their game on Friday. They walked away with a 36-28 win over St. Marys. The victory was just what Ridgway needed coming off of a 52-28 loss in their prior match.
When it comes to explaining why St. Marys lost, one person who can't be blamed is Anthony Nedzinski. Despite the final result, he scored 18 points. Those 18 points set a new season-high mark for him.
St. Marys struggled to get the ball back on offense and finished the game with only three offensive rebounds. That's the fewest offensive rebounds they've managed all season.
Ridgway's victory bumped their record up to 3-5. As for St. Marys, their defeat was their third straight at home, which bumped their record down to 4-4.
Ridgway will be staying on the road on Wednesday to face off against Cameron County at 6:00 p.m. on January 3rd. Cameron County presents a significant challenge as they come into the match much higher ranked than Ridgway in Pennsylvania (Cameron County is ranked 202nd, while Ridgway is ranked 500th). As for St. Marys, they will play host again and welcome DuBois Central Catholic, where tip off is scheduled for 7:30 p.m. on Wednesday.
