SCISA AA Region II recap Oct. 9, 2012
Palmetto Christian Academy's jT Waters rumbled for the longest rushing play in SCISA AA Region II this season in his game against Laurens Academy last week. Waters scampered for 70 yards on the play and finished with 268 on the day as his team topped the Crusaders.
Heyward Academy extended the longest winning streak in the league this week by beating Hilton Head Prep, 60-14. The win marks eighth in a row for the the Rebels.
The Dolphins' dynamic duo of Charlie Wilmot and Logan Clark proved tough for Heyward Academy to stop, as they were the top passer and receiver in the league this week. Wilmot threw for 286 yards and two touchdowns and Clark had 103 yards receiving. John Larson helped Hilton Head Prep's passing attack out by catching seven balls for 93 yards.
Will Tuchfarber made the biggest impact on defense this week as Jim Daniel's team bested Laurens Academy. The 6-foot-1 defensive end grabbed 2.0 sacks.
On the ground, Palmetto Christian Academy's Waters has rushed for 1221 yards which leads the league. The leading receiver in the league this season is Clark. The Hilton Head Prep star has 22 catches for 563 yards.
Next week's game between Northwood Academy and Palmetto Christian Academy will feature a tantalizing aerial matchup as Will Lloyd tests his arm against Bayne Hirshman's defensive ability. So far this year the Chargers' Lloyd has 1215 yards and 10 touchdowns to his credit, while Hirshman has notched three interceptions for Palmetto Christian Academy.
A big matchup in SCISA AA Region II this week will be when Hilton Head Christian Academy takes on Nic Shuford's team. The Eagles are in third place, while the Rebels are in first place.
The top two defenses in the league will face off this season when Hilton Head Christian Academy takes on Heyward Academy. Tommy Lewis' team has allowed 146 points this season, while the Rebels have given up 74. The Eagles allowed 6 points last week as they beat Colleton Prep Academy.
There should be lots of points scored when Northwood Academy and Palmetto Christian Academy face off this week. The top two offenses in the league, Philip Keefe's team comes in having scored 182 this season, while Palmetto Christian Academy has scored 302. The Chargers scored 28 points last week as they defeated Dillon Christian.
Palmetto Christian Academy took down Todd Kurk's team 60-6 last week, the largest margin of any game. Waters threw for 181 yards and two touchdowns in the win.
