The victory was a step in the right direction for the Jackson school, which was coming off a 27-24 defeat at the hands of Jackson Prep in its previous game. The defeat comes as a step back for Washington, which notched a 28-24 victory over Lee Academy in its previous outing. The loss snapped the Greenville school's 2-game winning streak.
Washington (6-2) will play a MAIS AAA II District 1 game against Heritage Academy next week, while Jackson Academy (8-1) will take on Magnolia Heights in a MAIS AAA I District 1 game.
