AISA AAA Region 2 recap Oct. 9, 2012
Monroe Academy extended the longest winning streak in AISA AAA Region 2 this week by beating Clarke Prep, 47-14. The victory was the seventh in a row for the team.
Monroe Academy led the league in scoring this week after putting up 47 points on the Gators.
Morgan Academy's offense has been unstoppable this season and the Senators feature the season leaders in passing, rushing and receiving yards. Dalton Lee has thrown for 435 yards and three touchdowns this season, while Harrison Watters has six catches for 141 yards. Jamie Bearden leads the league in rushing with 576 yards.
Two of the top units in AISA AAA Region 2 will face off this week when Morgan Academy takes on Mitchell Turberville's team. The Senators' offense has recorded 174 points this season, making them No. 1 in the league, while the Volunteers have permitted only 50 on the year.
A big matchup in the league this week will be when Monroe Academy takes on Morgan Academy. The Volunteers are currently in first, while bob taylor's team is in fifth.
Monroe Academy made the biggest jump in the national rankings this week, rising to 1,078 from 1,515. They were able to move up in the ranks after a 47-14 victory over Clarke Prep last week.
