Cross is a perfect 3-0 against Andrew Jackson Academy since April of 2024 and they'll have a chance to extend that dominance on Monday. The Stingrays will host the Warriors at 6:00 p.m. Cross will aim to continue their three-game streak of scoring more runs each matchup than the last.
On Friday, Cross beat Bridges Prep 17-12. The victory continues a trend for the Stingrays in their matchups with the Buccaneers: they've now won four in a row.
The team relied heavily on Sydney Hollings, who went 4-for-5 with one home run, four runs, and three RBI. That's the most hits she has posted since back in March of 2024. Ryan Mayers was another key player, going 3-for-4 with three runs, three RBI, and one stolen base.
They weren't the only ones making solid contact: Cross kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 15 hits. That's the most hits they've managed all season.
Meanwhile, Andrew Jackson Academy was not able to break out of their rough patch on Friday as the team picked up their ninth straight loss. They lost 16-3 to Dorchester Academy.
Ryleigh Trivette was cooking despite her team's loss, going 1-for-2 with one stolen base, one run, and one double. Another player making a difference was Carrigan Moore, who went 1-for-2 with one run and one double.
Andrew Jackson Academy's defeat dropped their record down to 2-11. As for Cross, their win bumped their record up to 12-7.
Cross' speedy runners might be the difference in Monday's contest. The Stingrays have been swiping bases left and right this season, having averaged 10.5 stolen bases per game. It's a different story for Andrew Jackson Academy, though, as they've been averaging only 0.9 stolen bases. Will they be able to secure the bases, or will Cross continue to outrun the ball?
Cross skirted past Andrew Jackson Academy 11-10 in their previous meeting back in March. Do the Stingrays have another victory up their sleeve, or will the Warriors turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
