High Point Christian Academy and Cannon are an even 3-3 against one another since March of 2015, but likely not for long. We've got a battle between Cougars coming up. High Point Christian Academy will be strutting in after a win while Cannon will be coming in after a loss.
High Point Christian Academy took a loss when they played away from home on Monday, but their home fans gave them all the motivation they needed on Tuesday. They came out on top against Charlotte Christian by a score of 9-4.
Hailey Allred and Maci Burkhart did most of the damage at the plate: Allred scored three runs and stole a base while going 2-for-3, while Burkhart went 3-for-4 with one home run, two runs, and one stolen base. That's the most runs Allred has posted since back in March of 2024. Madison Benson also deserves some recognition as she hit her first double of the season.
They weren't the only ones working in the home run department: High Point Christian Academy lost a few balls and finished the game with three home runs. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Charlotte Christian didn't launched any home runs.
Meanwhile, Cannon lost 15-1 to South Caldwell on Tuesday. The Cougars have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.
Cannon saw five different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Olivia McLaughlin, who went a perfect 2-for-2 with one RBI.
High Point Christian Academy pushed their record up to 4-1 with the victory, which was their 16th straight at home dating back to last season. Those victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.1 runs on average over those games. As for Cannon, their defeat dropped their record down to 3-3.
Thursday's matchup will be a test for both teams' pitchers. High Point Christian Academy hasn't had any issues making contact this season, having earned a batting average of .364. However, it's not like Cannon struggles in that department as they've averaged .352. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
High Point Christian Academy took their win against Cannon when the teams last played back in March of 2024 by a conclusive 18-3. The rematch might be a little tougher for High Point Christian Academy since the team won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
