Long Beach Poly and Woodrow Wilson are an even 5-5 against one another since May of 2021, but likely not for long. The Jackrabbits will host the Bruins at 3:30 p.m. on Thursday. Long Beach Poly will be strutting in after a victory while Woodrow Wilson will be coming in after a loss.
Long Beach Poly took a loss when they played away from home on Friday, but their home fans gave them all the motivation they needed on Tuesday. Their pitchers stepped up to hand Compton an 8-0 shutout. Considering the Jackrabbits have won seven contests by more than five runs this season, Tuesday's blowout was nothing new.
Long Beach Poly got a great performance from Damian Marquez as he didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only one hit while striking out 11 over six innings pitched. Those 11 strikeouts gave Marquez a new career-high.

At the plate, Freddie Parish V was incredible, going a perfect 4-for-4 with three stolen bases, four RBI, and two runs. Those four hits gave him a new career-high. Tate Hammond was another key player, going a perfect 3-for-3 with two doubles and one run.
Long Beach Poly always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .515. That's the best OBP they've posted all season.
Meanwhile, Woodrow Wilson didn't have quite enough to beat Sonora on Saturday and fell 7-6. That's two games in a row now that the Bruins have lost by just one run.
Woodrow Wilson also got a good showing from Diego Ritson, who tossed four innings while giving up just one earned (and one unearned) run off five hits.
On the hitting side, Penn Peters was cooking despite his team's loss, going a perfect 2-for-2 with one stolen base, two RBI, and one run. He also hit a double, marking his first of the season. Another player making a difference was Cooper George, who went 2-for-3 with two runs.
Long Beach Poly has been performing incredibly well recently as they've won eight of their last nine matchups. That's provided a nice bump to their 12-5 record this season. Those wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 8.9 runs over those games. As for Woodrow Wilson, their defeat ended a four-game streak of away wins and brought them to 10-7.
Long Beach Poly came up short against Woodrow Wilson in their previous matchup back in April of 2025, falling 5-1. Can the Jackrabbits avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
