Desert Edge hasn't had much luck against Centennial recently, but that could start to change on Thursday. The Desert Edge Scorpions will be playing at home against the Centennial Coyotes at 6:00 p.m. After the two teams made easy work of their previous opponents, one won't be so lucky on Thursday.
Desert Edge's pitching crew heads into the match hoping to repeat the dominance they displayed on Tuesday. They put the hurt on Copper Canyon with a sharp 20-0 win. That looming 20-0 mark stands out as the most commanding margin for the Scorpions yet this season.
Aliyah Fatigoni (2027) was a major factor no matter where she played. She looked comfortable on the mound, not allowing a single earned run over four innings pitched. She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't given up more than one earned run in three consecutive appearances. She was also big at the plate, scoring three runs and stealing a base while going 3-for-5. That's the most hits she has posted since back in March of 2024.

In other batting news, Azerae Cantrell (2027) was a standout: she scored three runs and stole Four bases. while going 4-for-4. The dominant performance gave her a new career-high in stolen bases. Another player making a difference was Leila Taylor (2027), who scored three runs and stole Three bases. while going 2-for-3.
Meanwhile, Centennial won against Alhambra on Tuesday with 21 runs and they decided to stick to that run total again on Wednesday. Centennial didn't even let ALA - Gilbert North on the board, marking Centennial's second-straight 21-0 shutout. The victory made it back-to-back wins for the Coyotes.
Brooke Denton and Leilani Diaz did most of the damage at the plate: Denton scored three runs and stole Four bases. while getting on base in all four of her plate appearances, while Diaz got on base in three of her four plate appearances with three runs, four RBI, and one stolen base. With that strong performance, Denton is now averaging an impressive 1.7 stolen bases per game. Serenity Anchondo was another key player, going 2-for-3 with three RBI, one triple, and one run.
Centennial always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .771. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as ALA - Gilbert North only posted an OBP of .000.
Desert Edge now has a winning record of 3-2. As for Centennial, the victory got them back to even at 3-3-1.
Desert Edge might still be hurting after the 13-1 loss they got from Centennial in their previous meeting back in April of 2024. Can Desert Edge avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
