It may have taken overtime to finish the job, but The Billerica Memorial Indians ultimately got the result they hoped for on Friday. They came out on top in a nail-biter against Plymouth South and snuck past 29-27. Given Billerica Memorial's advantage in MaxPreps' Massachusetts football rankings (they are ranked tenth, while Plymouth South is ranked 80th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Plymouth South's lost despite a true team effort on the offense, the best among them being Casious Johnson, who rushed for 95 yards and two touchdowns. The team also got some help courtesy of Justin LaChance, who gained 96 total yards and two touchdowns.
Billerica Memorial's victory was their tenth straight at home (dating back to last season), bumping their overall record up to 8-1. They've been dominating during the games in that stretch too, as they've won by an average of 20.8 points. As for Plymouth South, their defeat dropped their record down to 5-4.
Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Billerica Memorial will challenge Lawrence at 9:00 a.m. on Saturday. Plymouth South will have plenty of time to ponder what went wrong as they've got a bye scheduled next week. After, they'll take on Plymouth North at 10:00 a.m. on November 23rd. Plymouth North is coming into the game on a three-game losing streak.
