The Foard Tigers had already won two in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 11 points), and they went ahead and made it three on Tuesday. They secured a 49-45 W over St. Stephens. That result was just more of the same for these two, as Foard also won the last time the pair played back in December of 2023.
Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Foard to victory, but perhaps none more so than Davoney Dellinger, who scored 12 points along with two steals. Dellinger hasn't dropped below two steals for six straight games. Another player making a difference was Kinzer Abernathy, who scored 15 points.
St. Stephens lost despite a true team effort on the offense, the best among them being Molli Harris, who scored 16 points along with five rebounds and three steals. Harris is on a roll when it comes to steals, as she's now grabbed two or more in the last six games she's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Aubrey Gibbs, who scored 11 points along with four steals.
Even though they lost, St. Stephens smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 16 offensive rebounds. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Foard only pulled down five offensive rebounds.
Foard pushed their record up to 13-4 with that victory, which was their fifth straight at home. Those victories were due in large part to their offensive dominance across that stretch, as they averaged 60.2 points per game. As for St. Stephens, they have traveled a rocky road recently, as they've lost six of their last eight matchups, which put a noticeable dent in their 10-7 record this season.
Foard's homestand continues as they prepare to take on North Iredell at 6:00 p.m. on January 26th. As for St. Stephens, they will head out on the road to face off against West Iredell at 6:00 p.m. on Friday.
