Archbishop Mitty is 2-8 against Saint Francis since October of 2016 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Friday. The Monarchs will square off against the Lancers at 7:00 p.m. Expect the scorekeeper to be kept busy: if their previous games are any indication, these teams will really light up the scoreboard.
Archbishop Mitty will bounce into Friday's matchup after beating Valley Christian, who they had gone 1-8 against in their nine prior meetings. The Monarchs were the clear victors by a 32-7 margin over the Warriors on Friday. Winning may never get old, but the Monarchs sure are getting used to it with their fourth in a row.

Archbishop Mitty's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Joseph Engin led the charge by throwing for 161 yards and two TDs, while also rushing for 50 yards and one score. Those 50 rushing yards gave Engin a new career-high. Archbishop Mitty also got a significant boost from Lazaro Faraj-Washington, who ran away from the competition to the tune of 108 yards.
Wins are hard to come by when you can't run the rock, something Archbishop Mitty proved: they limited Valley Christian to a paltry 2.3 yards per carry. The team can thank Ethan Chase for the heroic effort on defense: he. Archbishop Mitty hasn't allowed more than 5.3 yards per carry in three consecutive contests.
Archbishop Mitty didn't go easy on the quarterback and picked off two passes before the game was over. The picks came courtesy of Kai Sniffen and Mailangi Tongi.
Meanwhile, winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Saint Francis). They claimed a resounding 56-17 win over Bellarmine College Prep. Given the Lancers' advantage in MaxPreps' California football rankings (they are ranked 70th, while the Bells are ranked 320th) , the win on Friday wasn't entirely unexpected.
Saint Francis' win came from a few key players Archbishop Mitty will need to keep an eye on. One of the most notable was Loa Tuiileila, who rushed for 126 yards and one touchdown on only 11 carries. That rushing touchdown was his first of the season. The team also got some help courtesy of Drew Cumby, who threw for 126 yards and three TDs on only nine passes.
Special teams played a big role in the game for Saint Francis, adding 14 points to the final score. The biggest highlight from special teams (and perhaps the team as a whole) came courtesy of Sefania Alatini, who ran a punt back for a touchdown.
Archbishop Mitty's record is now 4-1. As for Saint Francis, their victory (their first of the season) made their record 1-4.
Archbishop Mitty couldn't quite finish off Saint Francis in their previous meeting back in October of 2024 and fell 30-27. Thankfully for the Monarchs, Kingston Keanaaina (who rushed for 313 yards and a pair of scores while picking up 10.4 yards per carry) won't be suiting up this time. Will that be enough to change the final result? There's only one way to find out.
