Baseball Game Preview: Mahwah Thunderbirds vs. West Milford Highlanders

Mahwah is a perfect 3-0 against West Milford since June of 2022 and they'll have a chance to extend that dominance on Friday. The Thunderbirds will square off against the Highlanders at 4:15 p.m.

Westwood hit Mahwah with a nine-run fifth inning on Wednesday, which goes a long way in explaining the final result. The Thunderbirds lost 11-2 to the Cardinals. The loss continues a trend for the Thunderbirds in their meetings with the Cardinals: they've now lost nine in a row.

Mahwah saw five different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Ryan Hawken, who went 1-for-2 with two stolen bases and one run.

West Milford hadn't beaten Passaic Valley on the road since May 19, 2021 but that history sure didn't bother them on Wednesday. The Highlanders walked away with a 6-2 win over the Hornets. The victory made it back-to-back wins for the Highlanders.

West Milford's victory bumped their record up to 10-6. As for Mahwah, their defeat dropped their record down to 9-8.

Mahwah was able to grind out a solid win over West Milford in their previous meeting back in May of 2024, winning 7-3. Will the Thunderbirds repeat their success, or do the Highlanders have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
