On Saturday, the Liberty Patriots faced the Faith Lutheran Crusaders in a battle between two of the state's top teams. Liberty fell 61-53 to Faith Lutheran. Liberty was given a dose of their own medicine in this game as Faith Lutheran apparently hadn't forgotten their defeat the last time these teams played back in January of 2023.
When it comes to explaining why Liberty lost, one person who can't be blamed is Daisha Peavy. Despite the final result, she scored 23 points along with nine rebounds and four blocks. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Peavy has scored all season. Satsuki Bradley was another key contributor, scoring 17 points along with two steals.
Even though they lost, Liberty smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 20 offensive rebounds. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Faith Lutheran only pulled down two offensive rebounds.
Faith Lutheran was led to victory by Emma Herpin and Tamiah Harrison. Herpin scored 18 points along with five steals, while Harrison scored 23 points along with five assists and two steals. Harrison hasn't dropped below two steals for three straight games.
Liberty's loss ended a three-game streak of away wins and brought them to 13-8. As for Faith Lutheran, the victory got them back to even at 10-10.
Liberty will head out on the road to face off against Arbor View at 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Faith Lutheran, they will look to defend their home court on Tuesday against Palo Verde at 6:30 p.m. The matchup should be an exciting one, as these teams are ranked near one another in Nevada (Palo Verde is ranked 19th, while Faith Lutheran is ranked 17th).
