Softball Recap: Montville Has No Trouble Against Putnam

After only one run in their last matchup, Montville made sure to put some runs up on the board against Putnam on Friday. The Wolves were the clear victors by a 19-2 margin over the Clippers. Considering the Wolves have won four games by more than six runs this season, Friday's blowout was nothing new.

Natalie Lutyen was a major factor no matter where she played. She pitched five innings while giving up just one earned (and one unearned) run off two hits. Lutyen was also big at the plate, going 1-for-3 with three runs, two RBI, and one double.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Michalina Anton-Stavens, who went a perfect 3-for-3 with one home run, five RBI, and two runs. That home run marked the first that she has launched this season. Another player making a difference was Jainna Lesniewski, who went 2-for-4 with three runs, one triple, and one RBI.

Montville was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .438. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Putnam only posted a batting average of .211.

Montville's record now sits at 6-3. As for Putnam, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 2-4.

Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Montville will face off against East Lyme at 4:00 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Putnam, they will be playing at home against New London at 4:00 p.m. on Monday.
