Schuylkill Haven has gone 9-1 against Shenandoah Valley recently and they'll look to pad the win column further on Tuesday. The Hurricanes will face off against the Blue Devils at 4:30 p.m. Both squads will be entering this one on the heels of a big victory.
Shenandoah Valley will face off against a team with plenty of momentum: Schuylkill Haven extended their winning streak to four on Monday. The Hurricanes blew past Marian Catholic 13-1.
Talan Spittler made a big impact while hitting and pitching. He looked comfortable on the mound, pitching three innings while giving up just one earned run off two hits. Spittler was also solid in the batter's box, going 1-for-3 with three RBI.
In other batting news, Alan Evans and Hunter Correll did most of the damage at the plate: Evans scored three runs and stole a base while going 4-for-4, while Correll went 2-for-3 with four RBI, two runs, and two doubles. Another player making a difference was Chase Yoder, who scored three runs and stole two bases while going 1-for-3.
Meanwhile, Shenandoah Valley got themselves on the board against Minersville on Monday, but Minersville never followed suit. They were the clear victors by a 6-0 margin over the Battlin' Miners. For those keeping track at home, that's the biggest win the Blue Devils have posted against the Battlin' Miners since April 20, 2022.
Like Schuylkill Haven, Shenandoah Valley also got a great game from a two-way player: Brayden Maksimik. He didn't allow a single earned run over seven innings pitched. Maksimik has been consistent : he hasn't given up more than two walks in five consecutive appearances. He was also big at the plate, going 2-for-3 with four RBI, two doubles, and one run. Those four RBI gave him a new career-high.
Maksimik wasn't the only one making solid contact as four players wound up with at least one hit. One of them was Jostin Lajara, who went 1-for-2 with one double and one RBI.
The victory made it two in a row for Shenandoah Valley and bumps their season record up to 7-3. The wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 8.5 runs over those games. As for Schuylkill Haven, their record now sits at 8-2.
Schuylkill Haven was able to grind out a solid victory over Shenandoah Valley in their previous matchup back in May of 2024, winning 6-2. Do the Hurricanes have another victory up their sleeve, or will the Blue Devils turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
