The Luling Eagles will take on the Poth Pirates at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. Both squads will be entering this one on the heels of a big victory.
Luling made up a huge gap compared to their last game against Nixon-Smiley, but they still couldn't quite topple them. Luling put the hurt on Nixon-Smiley with a sharp 22-8 victory on Tuesday.

Nedeyin Magallanez made a splash while hitting and pitching. She pitched one inning while giving up no earned runs off one hit. The dominant performance also gave her a new career-low in walks (zero). She was also stellar in the batter's box, scoring four runs and stealing a base while going 3-for-4. Those four runs gave her a new career-high.
In other batting news, Kaleigh Medina was incredible, scoring three runs while getting on base in all four of her plate appearances. Those three runs gave her a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Evyn Bryant, who scored three runs while going 2-for-4.
Luling kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 16 hits. That's the most hits they've managed all season.
Meanwhile, Poth had already won two in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 11.5 runs) and they went ahead and made it three on Tuesday. They were the clear victors by a 13-2 margin over the Brahmas. With that win, the Pirates brought their scoring average up to 6.6 runs per game.
Poth got a massive performance out of Bella Serna, who scored two runs and stole a base while going 2-for-2. The team also got some help courtesy of Reese Urbanczyk, who scored two runs while going 2-for-3.
Poth pushed their record up to 8-6 with the victory, which was their fifth straight at home. A key ingredient in that success has been their performance when it comes to hits: they averaged an imposing 10.6 hits in those games compared to only 4.89 in the others. As for Luling, the win got them back to even at 10-10.
Friday's match might come down to which pitcher can control the ball better. Luling has hit smart this season, having averaged an OBP of .507. However, it's not like Poth struggles in that department as they've averaged .473. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
Luling might still be hurting after the 10-1 loss they got from Poth in their previous meeting back in February of 2024. Can Luling avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
