Last Thursday, De La Salle Collegiate might have been a little too into the holiday spirit, gifting Brother Rice an easy 63-42 win. While losing is never fun, De La Salle Collegiate can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Michigan basketball rankings (they are ranked 32nd, while Brother Rice is ranked second).
Meanwhile, Powers Catholic put another one in the bag on Friday to keep their perfect season alive. They took down Corunna 67-51.
Powers Catholic's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Jesse Cull led the charge by dropping a double-double on 22 points and 11 rebounds. Those 11 rebounds set a new season-high mark for him. Connor Kelly was another key contributor, dropping a double-double on 13 points and ten rebounds.
De La Salle Collegiate's defeat dropped their record down to 4-1. As for Powers Catholic, their win bumped their record up to 7-0.
