The Sierra Vista Dons typically have all the answers at home, but on Monday the Northview Vikings proved too difficult a challenge. Northview walked away with a 49-37 victory over Sierra Vista. That result was just more of the same for these two, as Northview also won the last time the pair played back in December of 2022.
Northview's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Sam Osi, who scored 19 points. The team also got some help courtesy of Caleb Mckendrick, who scored 7 points along with 11 rebounds.
When it comes to explaining why Sierra Vista lost, one person who can't be blamed is Aaron Buna. Despite the final result, he scored 19 points along with 4 steals. Buna is absolutely dominating the steal category: he's posted at least two every time he's taken the court this season. Another player making a difference was Dolan Dease, who scored 4 points.
Sierra Vista struggled to work together and finished the game with only three assists. They were crushed by their opponents in that department as Northview racked up 13.
Northview's win bumped their record up to 7-1. As for Sierra Vista, their loss dropped their record down to 6-3.
Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Northview will take on Bassett at 6:00 p.m. on Wednesday. Bassett will have to bring their A-game into this one, as they are staring down a pretty big deficit in the MaxPreps California Rankings (they are ranked 1056th, while Northview is ranked 379th). As for Sierra Vista, they will be playing in front of their home fans against Baldwin Park at 5:00 p.m. on Wednesday. Baldwin Park is hoping to put an end to a five-game streak of away losses.
