General McLane (Edinboro, Pa.) kept up a steady attack all game long to defeat
Oil City (Pa.), 42-19, on Saturday.
The Lancers were up 21-7 at the half after taking the lead on a touchdown run in the first quarter.
General McLane expanded its lead to 21 points entering the fourth quarter. GM's lone score in the quarter came on a passing touchdown.
The Edinboro school's most effective player was
Paul (Kip) Petrusky. The senior ran for one touchdown.
The Oilers'
Frank Serbatti was the standout player for his team. The junior running back threw one touchdown.
The victory was a step in the right direction for the Lancers, which was coming off a 48-14 defeat at the hands of McDowell in its previous game. The loss was the third in a row for Oil City.
In a non-conference game next week General McLane (2-1) takes on Franklin, and Oil City (0-3) will go up against DuBois in a District 10 Region 5 AAA game.
