If the Bridgeport Bulldogs were riding high off their 68-45 takedown of the Beallsville Blue Devils last Monday, their most recent game may have dampened their spirits a bit. Bridgeport was just a bucket shy of victory on Friday and fell 33-32 to the Cougars. The result shouldn't come as a shock considering that's the fewest points Bridgeport has scored all season.
Despite the loss, Bridgeport saw an underclassman step up: Jaleel Vincent scored 14 points along with two steals. Vincent hasn't dropped below two steals for three straight games. Coen Brinker was another key contributor, scoring eight points along with three steals.
Frontier's victory was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Jacob Bowersock, who scored 14 points along with seven rebounds. Bowersock is trending in the right direction, as he's improved his point production for three games straight. Another player making a difference was Avery Powell, who dropped a double-double on 11 points and ten rebounds.
Bridgeport has traveled a rocky road recently having lost three of their last four games, which put a noticeable dent in their 11-8 record this season. As for Frontier, the win got them back to even at 8-8.
Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Bridgeport will take on the Redskins at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Frontier, they will be playing in front of their home fans against the Tigers at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Shadyside has been getting the ball to fall more lately as they've increased their point totals each of their last three games.
