Franklin Central is 1-9 against Center Grove since April of 2015 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Thursday. The Flashes will take on the Trojans at 6:00 p.m. Franklin Central is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 7.8 runs per game this season.
Franklin Central made up a huge gap compared to their last game against Noblesville, but they still couldn't quite topple them. The Flashes fell just short of the Millers by a score of 8-6 on Tuesday.
Jadyn Tinsley made the most of her time at bat despite the final result and went 2-for-4 with one home run. That home run was her first of the season. Another player making a difference was Audrina Yorn, who went 3-for-4 with one run and one double.
Meanwhile, Center Grove had already won three in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 5.3 runs) and they went ahead and made it four on Monday. They came out on top against the Panthers by a score of 7-4. Seven seems to be a good number for the Trojans as the team scooped up a win with the same number of runs in their previous game.
Center Grove also got a great performance from Kara Biever as she struck out 12 batters over six innings while giving up just one earned (and two unearned) runs off five hits (and not a single walk). Biever has been nothing but reliable on the mound: she hasn't given up more than one earned run any time she's pitched this season.
At the plate, the team relied heavily on Mae Munson, who went a perfect 4-for-4 with four stolen bases, three runs, and one double. That's the most runs she has posted since back in April of 2024. The team also got some help courtesy of Sydney Herrmann, who went 2-for-3 with three RBI, one run, and one double.
Center Grove's victory was their 12th straight on the road dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 7-2. The road wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.6 runs on average over those games. As for Franklin Central, their loss dropped their record down to 6-6.
Both Franklin Central and Center Grove just can't seem to miss. The Flashes have been making plenty of contact this season, having averaged 11 hits per game. However, it's not like Center Grove struggles in that department as they've been averaging only 5.6 hits. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
Franklin Central came up short against Center Grove when the teams last played last Saturday, falling 8-3. Can the Flashes avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
