Riley Heuett made a splash while hitting and pitching. She didn't allow a single earned run while striking out eight over five innings pitched. Those eight strikeouts gave her a new career-high. She was also big at the plate, going 2-for-3 with one home run, four RBI, and two runs.
In other batting news, Show Low got a massive performance out of Addisyn Clark, who went 1-for-2 with one home run, two runs, and two RBI. Aspyn Clark was another key player, going 1-for-2 with two runs, one stolen base, and one double.
Show Low was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .435. That was just more of the same: they've now posted a batting average of .321 or higher in seven consecutive contests.
Meanwhile, Yuma Catholic sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 4-3 win over Valley Christian on Wednesday.
Cherish Trujillo spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered just two earned (and one unearned) runs on seven hits. She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't given up more than two walks in 12 consecutive appearances.
At the plate, the team relied heavily on Faith Donley, who went 3-for-4 with two RBI, one run, and one double. Another player making a difference was Autumn Moffatt, who went 2-for-3 with two runs and one triple.
Show Low pushed their record up to 25-6 with the victory, which was their eighth straight at home. Those home wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 16.9 runs over those games. As for Yuma Catholic, their record now sits at 24-4.
Both Show Low and Yuma Catholic just can't seem to miss. The Cougars have been making plenty of contact this season, having averaged 10.7 hits per game. However, it's not like Yuma Catholic struggles in that department as they've been averaging only 2.8 hits. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance. Check back here after the action for a full breakdown and analysis of the contest.
