The New Washington Mustangs lost against the Providence Pioneers back in January of 2023, and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Tuesday. New Washington fell just short of Providence by a score of 47-44. While losing is never fun, New Washington can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Indiana basketball rankings (they are ranked 228th, while Providence is ranked 108th).
Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Providence to victory, but perhaps none more so than Addison Smith, who scored 13 points along with four steals. Another player making a difference was Avery Smith, who scored nine points along with eight rebounds.
New Washington's loss dropped their record down to 7-12. As for Providence, the victory (which was their eighth in a row) raised their record to 12-6.
New Washington will be playing at home against Shawe Memorial at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Providence's road trip will continue as they head out to face Charlestown at 7:30 p.m. on January 12th. Charlestown is coming into the game hot, having won their last three games.
