The Penn Kingsmen won the last time they faced the Chesterton Trojans, and things went their way on Friday too. Penn walked away with a 54-44 win over Chesterton. Given Penn's advantage in MaxPreps' Indiana basketball rankings (they are ranked 29th, while Chesterton is ranked 105th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Penn was led to victory by Trey Miller and Maverick Brown. Miller scored 17 points, while Brown scored 20 points along with nine rebounds. Alexander Hawthorne was another key contributor, scoring five points along with five rebounds.
Penn pushed their record up to 6-1 with that win, which was their 13th straight on the road dating back to last season. They've been dominating during the contests in that stretch too, as they've won by an average of 35.62 points. As for Chesterton, they have not been sharp recently, as they've lost three of their last four matchups, which put a noticeable dent in their 4-3 record this season.
Penn will have some time to savor their win since their next game is a little ways off: they'll take on South Bend St. Joseph at 7:30 p.m. on January 4, 2024. Chesterton will finish 2023 at home by hosting Lawrence Central at 9:30 a.m. on Thursday.
