The Columbus Cardinals were the  57-43 winner over the Edna Cowboys when they last played one another  back in December of 2023, but their luck changed this time around. Columbus took a  56-41 bruising from Edna on Wednesday.
  Karlee Mathis and  Sage Thomas certainly did their best on Wednesday to try and avoid the loss.  Mathis  scored 13 points, while  Thomas  scored 12 points.
 Columbus' defeat dropped their record down to 18-7. As for Edna, they pushed their record up to 22-5 with that  victory, which was their seventh straight  at home.
 Both  teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Columbus will be staying on the road  on Tuesday to face off against Yoakum at 6:15  p.m.  on January 23rd. That game will pit two of the most dominant  guards against one another:  Jayana Phillips and  Mathis. As for Edna, they will head out on the road to  square off against  Hallettsville at 6:15  p.m.  on Friday. Hallettsville will be looking to extend their current nine-game winning streak.
