The Colfax Falcons will challenge the Argonaut Mustangs at 4:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Colfax is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 7.5 runs per game this season.
Colfax is on a roll after a high-stakes playoff matchup on Friday. They came out on top against Hilmar by a score of 9-6. The victory made it back-to-back wins for the Falcons.
Sabrina Williams was incredible, firing off two home runs, three runs, and four RBI while going 3-for-5. Those two home runs gave her a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Leiah Hicks, who went 2-for-3 with one stolen base, two RBI, and one run.
They weren't the only ones making solid contact: Colfax kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 15 hits. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now got at least nine hits in five consecutive matchups.
Meanwhile, Argonaut waltzed into their game on Friday with five straight wins... but they left with six. They blew past the Bullfrogs 7-1. Give some credit to the fans of both teams: the last five times they've met, the home team has come away the winner.
Hailey Dewald spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered a run (which was unearned) on five hits and racked up eight Ks. She has been consistent: she hasn't tossed less than five strikeouts in seven consecutive appearances.
On the hitting side, the team relied heavily on Catie Strieff, who went 1-for-3 with one triple, two RBI, and one run. Another player making a difference was Gia Stone, who went 1-for-3 with two RBI and one run.
Colfax's victory was their fourth straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 9-10. The road wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 11.3 runs over those games. As for Argonaut, their record is now 22-5.
Tuesday's contest might come down to which pitcher can control the ball better. Colfax has hit smart this season, having averaged an OBP of .454. However, it's not like Argonaut struggles in that department as they've averaged .440. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
