Baseball Recap: Stevenson Finds Playoff Glory Versus Thurston

It can be hard to translate regular season success to the playoffs, but Stevenson had no problem doing just that on Saturday. They put the hurt on the Thurston Eagles with a sharp 15-0 victory. Considering the Spartans have won 12 contests by more than five runs this season, Saturday's blowout was nothing new.

Luca Allevato was a major factor while hitting and pitching. He pitched one inning while giving up no earned runs or hits. He has been nothing but reliable on the mound: he hasn't given up more than two hits in nine consecutive appearances. He was also solid in the batter's box, getting on base in two of his three plate appearances with two stolen bases and two runs. Those two stolen bases gave him a new career-high.

In other pitching news, Cameron McPherson got the start for Stevenson and what a start it was: he struck out six batters over two innings while giving up no earned runs or hits (and only one walk). McPherson has been consistent recently: he hasn't given up more than one hit in three consecutive appearances.

Back at the plate, Gage Henriksen was incredible, going a perfect 3-for-3 with three runs, three RBI, and two doubles. That's the most RBI he has posted since back in May of 2025. Another player making a difference was Caden Gawkowski, who went 1-for-2 with two runs, one triple, and one stolen base.

Stevenson always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .680. That's the best OBP they've posted all season.

Stevenson has been performing well recently as they've won six of their last eight games. That's provided a nice bump to their 22-13 record this season. Those wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 10.5 runs over those games. As for Thurston, their loss dropped their record down to 14-11.

Stevenson has already played their next matchup, a 10-1 victory against Farmington on the 30th. Thurston does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
