The Lehigh Lightning had already won three in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 29.3 points), and they went ahead and made it four on Friday. They strolled past Estero with points to spare, taking the game 57-40. Given Lehigh's advantage in MaxPreps' Florida basketball rankings (they are ranked 183rd, while Estero is ranked 382nd), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Leading Lehigh to victory were Rianne Smith and Faith Plummer. Smith scored 23 points along with six rebounds and five assists, while Plummer scored 23 points. That makes it three consecutive games in which Smith has scored at least a third of Lehigh's points. The team also got some help courtesy of Sanaa Geter, who scored six points along with two steals.
Despite the loss, Estero saw an underclassman step up: Amiya Lewis scored 21 points along with nine rebounds and two steals. That was a full 52.5% of Estero's points, marking the ninth time in a row she's earned more than a third of the team's points. Rayne Woods was another key contributor, scoring six points along with two steals.
Lehigh has been performing incredibly well recently as they've won six of their last seven contests, which provided a nice bump to their 14-4 record this season. As for Estero, they are on a six-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 7-8.
