Arapahoe has enjoyed a two-game homestand but will soon have to dust off their road jerseys. They will face off against the Grandview Wolves at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Hopefully Arapahoe focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 12 on Wednesday.
Last Wednesday, Arapahoe came up short against Cherry Creek and fell 56-44. Arapahoe has struggled against Cherry Creek recently, as their match on Wednesday was their fourth consecutive lost matchup.
Cass Henry put forth a good effort for the losing side as he scored nine points.
Meanwhile, winning is just a little bit easier when you work as a team to rack up nine more assists than your opponent, a fact Grandview proved on Wednesday. They strolled past Cherokee Trail with points to spare, taking the game 52-37.
Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Grandview to victory, but perhaps none more so than Cole Holtman, who scored 16 points along with five rebounds and two steals. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Holtman has scored all season. Another player making a difference was Breven Anderson, who scored 14 points.
Arapahoe has traveled a rocky road recently, as they've lost three of their last four matches, which put a noticeable dent in their 7-7 record this season. As for Grandview, their win ended a four-game drought on the road and puts them at 4-9.
This contest is one where the number of possessions is likely to be a big factor: Arapahoe have been smashing the glass this season, having only averaged 25.7 rebounds per game. It's a different story for Grandview, though, as they've been averaging only 24.5 rebounds per game. Given these competing strengths, it'll be interesting to see how their clash plays out.
Arapahoe didn't have too much breathing room in their match against Grandview in their previous meeting back in December of 2023, but they still walked away with a 42-38 win. One of the biggest obstacles the team faced in that game was Grandview's Noah Sevy, who dropped a double-double on ten points and ten rebounds. Now that he's got a second chance to win this matchup, will Arapahoe still be able to contain him? There's only one way to find out.
