Winning is just a little bit easier when you work as a team to rack up eight more assists than your opponent, a fact the Pine Lake Prep Pride proved on Tuesday. They walked away with a 63-53 win over Corvian Community. The win made it back-to-back wins for Pine Lake Prep.
It was another big night for Robert Magner, who scored 29 points along with seven rebounds. He is on a roll when it comes to points, as he's now scored 15 or more in the last seven games he's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Joseph Bruce, who scored four points along with five assists and five rebounds.
Several Cardinals players turned in solid performances, despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was RJ Moore Jr., who dropped a double-double on 14 points and 12 rebounds. Another player making a difference was Doug Quarles III, who scored six points along with five rebounds and four blocks.
Pine Lake Prep is on a roll lately: they've won three of their last four games, which provided a nice bump to their 9-6 record this season. As for Corvian Community, their loss ended a four-game streak of away wins and brought them to 9-3.
Pine Lake Prep will head out on the road to face off against Community School of Davidson at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. The matchup should be an exciting one, as these teams are ranked near one another in North Carolina (Community School of Davidson is ranked 143rd, while Pine Lake Prep is ranked 157th). Corvian Community won't have much time to rest: their next contest is against Mountain Island Charter at 7:30 p.m. on January 17th. Mountain Island Charter has been dominant on offense recently, as they've racked up an incredible 874 points over their last 12 matches.
