On Tuesday, the Coalinga Horned Toads kept a clean sheet against the Avenal Buccaneers. They walked away with a 2-0 win over the Buccaneers. This was payback for Coalinga, who suffered a 5-2 defeat the last time these two teams met.
They were led to victory by the tag-team duo of
Jesus Ramirez and
Andy Jimenez, who scored both of Coalinga's goals. The pair have combined for a total of 15 so far this season.
Coalinga's win bumped their record up to 11-7-5. As for Avenal, they have been struggling recently as they've lost four of their last five matches, which put a noticeable dent in their 10-9-3 record this season.
Coalinga will head out on the road to square off against Mendota at 5:30 p.m. on Thursday. Mendota will roll in looking for their fourth straight victory, something Coalinga surely won't give up without a fight. Avenal does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
