The Ranburne Bulldogs will venture away from home to face off against the Weaver Bearcats at 12:00 p.m. on Saturday. Both come into the contest bolstered by wins in their previous matches.
On Friday, Ranburne was able to grind out a solid win over Cleburne County, taking the game 6-3. The Bulldogs haven't had any issues with the Tigers recently, as the game was their fourth consecutive victory against them.
The team relied heavily on K.K. Rollins, who went 2-for-4 with two runs and one triple. Aubie Rollins was another key player, going 1-for-2 with one run, one double, and one RBI.
Meanwhile, there's no place like home for Weaver, who bounced back after a loss on the road on Monday. Everything went their way against Wellborn on Thursday as they made off with a 14-6 win. The victory was a breath of fresh air for the Bearcats as it put an end to their five-game losing streak.
Reyleigh Partner spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered five earned (and one unearned) runs on six hits. She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't tossed less than five strikeouts in three consecutive appearances.
At the plate, Ashlyn Coleman was incredible, firing off two home runs and nine RBI while going 4-for-5. Those four hits gave her a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Anna Shirvinski, who went 2-for-3 with one home run and one stolen base.
Weaver lost a few balls and finished the game with three home runs. That's the most home runs they've managed all season.
Weaver's record now sits at 9-12. As for Ranburne, the win got them back to even at 13-13.
Ranburne came out on top in a nail-biter against Weaver in their previous meeting on Monday, sneaking past 6-4. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Bulldogs since the squad won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
