Softball Game Preview: Quincy Blue Devils vs. Rock Island Rocks

Quincy hasn't had much luck against Rock Island recently, but that could start to change on Tuesday. The Blue Devils will look to defend their home field against the Rocks at 4:30 p.m. Quincy will aim to continue their three-game streak of scoring more runs each game than the last.

Quincy is headed in fresh off scoring the most runs they have all season. They blew past Granite City 17-7 on Saturday. The Blue Devils haven't had any issues with the Warriors recently, as the game was their fourth consecutive win against them.

The team relied heavily on Ivy Winter, who went 4-for-5 with five runs, two triples, and two stolen bases. The dominant performance also gave her a new career-high in RBI (four). Another player making a difference was Avary Hlubek, who went 1-for-3 with one home run, three RBI, and one stolen base.

Quincy was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .545. Their batting average was a full 0 higher than the also-impressive .391 that Granite City posted.

Meanwhile, Rock Island unfortunately witnessed the end of their three-game winning streak on Saturday. They fell just short of Minooka by a score of 7-5.

Ella DeJonghe made the most of her time at bat despite the final result and went 1-for-2 with one home run and two RBI. The team also got some help courtesy of Ella Leahy, who went 1-for-2 with one run and one double.

Rock Island's defeat dropped their record down to 18-9. As for Quincy, their victory bumped their record up to 9-15.
