The Riverview Sarasota Rams posted their closest win yet this season on Monday. They narrowly escaped with a win as the team sidled past Booker 56-53. Given Riverview Sarasota's advantage in MaxPreps' Florida basketball rankings (they are ranked 193rd, while Booker is ranked 450th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Riverview Sarasota's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Cole Coggin led the charge by scoring 13 points along with three steals. Coggin continues to roll, besting his previous point total in each of the last three games he's played. Another player making a difference was Jeremiah Dawson, who scored 11 points.
Despite the loss, Booker still got an impressive performance from Jovan Palavra, who scored 19 points. Jamareon Ruffin was another key contributor, scoring 11 points.
Riverview Sarasota pushed their record up to 10-5 with that win, which was their third straight on the road. As for Booker, their defeat dropped their record down to 6-9.
Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Riverview Sarasota will take on Cardinal Mooney at 7:30 p.m. on Thursday. Hopefully Cardinal Mooney focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 19 on Monday. As for Booker, they will be playing at home against Fort Myers at 7:30 p.m. on Saturday. Fort Myers will be looking to extend their current three-game winning streak.
