After two games on the road, Happy Camp is heading back home. They will take on the Tulelake Honkers at 6:30 p.m. on Friday. Hopefully Happy Camp focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 12 on Thursday.
Last Thursday, Happy Camp was able to grind out a solid victory over the Hornets, taking the game 43-34. The victory was just what Happy Camp needed coming off of a 51-31 defeat in their prior match.
Happy Camp found their leader in underclassman Jean Wright, who scored 16 points along with two steals. Wright is crushing the steal category: he's posted at least two every time he's taken the court this season. Jason Day was another key contributor, scoring ten points along with eight rebounds.
Meanwhile, Tulelake pushed their score all the way to 59 on Wednesday, but even that wasn't enough to win. They were dealt a 87-59 loss at the hands of Hayfork. Tulelake has struggled against the Timberjacks recently, as their game on Wednesday was their fourth consecutive lost matchup.
Happy Camp's victory bumped their record up to 8-2. As for Tulelake, their defeat dropped their record down to 7-17.
Happy Camp ended up a good deal behind the Honkers when the teams last played back in January, losing 60-44. A big factor in that loss was the dominant performance of Tulelake's Leo Leon, who scored 27 points. Now that Happy Camp knows the damage he can cause, will they be able to stop him this time? There's only one way to find out.
