On Friday, the Eastern Ramblers faced the Roosevelt Roughriders in a battle between two of the state's top teams. Eastern blew past Roosevelt 60-28 at home. Eastern has made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won five games by 21 points or more this season.
Eastern's win was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Lanaia Martin, who dropped a double-double on 22 points and 12 rebounds. Martin is trending in the right direction, as she's improved her point production for three games straight. Another player making a difference was Samia Greene, who scored 21 points along with six assists and six rebounds.
Eastern is on a roll lately: they've won six of their last seven matchups, which provided a nice bump to their 12-4 record this season. As for Roosevelt, their defeat dropped their record down to 7-7.
Eastern will be playing in front of their home fans against Woodson at 5:30 p.m. on Monday. Woodson comes in still looking for their first win of the season. Roosevelt's road trip will continue as they head out to face KIPP DC Legacy College Prep at 6:00 p.m. on January 29th. KIPP DC Legacy College Prep comes in on a streak of failing to score more than 21 points in their last three games, a trend the squad is of course eager to reverse.
