The St. Stephens Indians posted their biggest victory since December 20, 2023 on Friday. They claimed a resounding 62-27 win over Statesville at home. With St. Stephens ahead 40-13 at the half, the contest was all but over already.
Molli Harris was her usual excellent self, scoring 23 points along with four steals. She is on a roll when it comes to steals, as she's now grabbed two or more in the last five games she's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Aubrey Gibbs, who scored 11 points along with six rebounds and five assists.
St. Stephens' win bumped their record up to 10-6. As for Statesville, they bumped their record down to 1-14 with that defeat, which was their 17th straight on the road.
Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. St. Stephens will face off against Foard at 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Foard and St. Stephens are at an even 5-5 over their past ten head-to-heads. Statesville on the road again on Tuesday and play against Hickory at 6:00 p.m. on January 23rd. Hickory presents a significant challenge as they come into the match much higher ranked than Statesville in North Carolina (Hickory is ranked 137th, while Statesville is ranked 496th).
