La Jolla Country Day is on a roll after a high-stakes playoff matchup on Friday. They strolled past El Capitan with points to spare, taking the game 22-7. The victory made it back-to-back wins for the Torreys.
La Jolla Country Day's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Jett Astephen, who threw for 265 yards and three TDs. Astephen has been hot recently, having posted three or more passing touchdowns the last three times he's played. Hesh Hertz was Astephen's top target, picking up 99 receiving yards and a pair of scores.

On the other side of the ball, a lot of the credit has to go to La Jolla Country Day's defense and their four sacks. Porter Brunson was particularly dangerous to the passing game, picking up two himself. He also made five total tackles, which is notable because La Jolla Country Day is 3-1 when he posts at least three total tackles, but 3-5 otherwise.
Meanwhile, winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Valley Center). They claimed a resounding 56-29 win over Mira Mesa. The team's explosion on offense also rewarded the Jaguars with their most commanding win of the season.
Valley Center's win came from a few key players La Jolla Country Day will need to keep an eye on. One of the most notable was Joeisha Ryan Tirado, who rushed for 217 yards and two touchdowns while picking up 11.4 yards per carry. Those 217 rushing yards gave him a new career-high. Braylon Mitchell was another key player, throwing for 232 yards and four TDs.
Valley Center was unstoppable on the ground and finished the game with 232 rushing yards. That's a new trend for them: they were averaging 70.1 rushing yards per game earlier this season, but in their last five contests they've averaged 149.3.
