Snowflake is on a five-game streak of home wins (dating back to last season), while Blue Ridge is on a six-game streak of away wins: one of those streaks is about to end. Snowflake will host Blue Ridge at 3:30 p.m. on Tuesday. The last three games Snowflake has played have been within two runs, so don't be surprised if it's a close one.
Snowflake hadn't beaten Show Low on the road since April 13, 2022 but that history sure didn't bother them on Friday. Snowflake had just enough and edged out Show Low 5-3.
Skip Bawden was a major factor while hitting and pitching. He looked comfortable on the mound, striking out 14 batters over 6.1 innings while giving up just one earned (and two unearned) runs off five hits. He has been consistent recently: he hasn't given up more than one earned run in four consecutive appearances. He was also solid in the batter's box, scoring a run while going 2-for-4.
In other batting news, Snowflake got a big performance out of Aaden Coor, who scored a run while going 2-for-4. Another player making a difference was Gavin Rausch, who went 2-for-4 with one triple and one run.
Snowflake was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .375. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Show Low only posted a batting average of .185.
Meanwhile, Blue Ridge earned a 9-4 victory over Alchesay on Friday. The Yellow Jackets haven't had any issues with the Falcons recently, as the game was their fourth consecutive win against them.
Kaden Edgington spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: he surrendered four earned runs on nine hits.
On the hitting side, the team relied heavily on Matthew Rooney, who scored three runs and stole a base while going 2-for-3. The team also got some help courtesy of Noah Chee, who went 1-for-4 with four RBI, one stolen base, and one double.
Snowflake has been performing incredibly well recently as they've won seven of their last eight matchups. That's provided a nice bump to their 9-2 record this season. Those victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.9 runs on average over those games. Blue Ridge's win bumped their record up to 9-3.
Tuesday's contest will be a test for both teams' pitchers. Snowflake hasn't had any issues making contact this season, having earned a batting average of .385. However, it's not like Blue Ridge struggles in that department as they've averaged .352. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
Everything went Snowflake's way against Blue Ridge when the teams last played back in April of 2024, as Snowflake made off with an 8-1 victory. Will Snowflake repeat their success, or does Blue Ridge has a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
