Vincennes Lincoln is 8-2 against Princeton since May of 2016 and they'll have a chance to extend that dominance on Monday. The Alices will take on the Tigers at 6:00 p.m. Both squads will be entering this one on the heels of a big victory.
Vincennes Lincoln had to skate by with only a one-run margin when they last took the field, which might have inspired the nine-run drubbing they dealt North Daviess on Friday. The Alices put the hurt on the Cougars with a sharp 11-2 victory. The win continues a trend for the Alices in their matchups with the Cougars: they've now won six in a row.
Justice Johnson tossed a big game, pitching five innings while giving up just one earned (and one unearned) run off six hits. He has been nothing but reliable on the mound: he hasn't given up more than two walks in six consecutive appearances.
On the hitting side, Donta Henderson and Daniel Henderson did most of the damage at the plate: Donta went 2-for-3 with four RBI, while Daniel went 2-for-3 with two stolen bases, two runs, and one RBI. Those two stolen bases gave Daniel a new career-high. Gavin Kelso also deserves some recognition as he brought in his first RBI of the season.
Meanwhile, Princeton got the win against South Knox on Friday by a conclusive 11-1.
Jaron Clutter made a big impact while hitting and pitching. He looked comfortable on the mound, tossing three innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit. Clutter was also big at the plate, going 2-for-3 with three RBI and one run.
In other batting news, Jarrett Kinder was excellent, going 1-for-2 with two runs and two RBI.
Princeton's victory was their 11th straight at home dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 14-3. Those home wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 7.2 runs over those games. As for Vincennes Lincoln, their record now sits at 13-3.
Both Vincennes Lincoln and Princeton just can't seem to miss. The Alices have been making plenty of contact this season, having averaged 9.8 hits per game. However, it's not like Princeton struggles in that department as they've been averaging only 4.8 hits. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
Everything went Vincennes Lincoln's way against Princeton in their previous meeting back in May of 2024, as Vincennes Lincoln made off with an 11-1 victory. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Alices since the team won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
