If Notre Dame Academy wanted to avenge their loss from the last time they played Bishop Fenwick, they should've done a better job of containing Emerson Moser. The Falcons came out on top against the Eagles by a score of 2-0 on Saturday for which the team can thank Moser, who had four digs and three aces. She has been hot, having posted two or more aces the last six times she's played.
Bishop Fenwick easily took the first set, but they let things get interesting in the other. The final score came out to 25-9, 25-20.
Meanwhile, there's no place like home for Mercy McAuley, who bounced back after a loss on the road on Saturday. They were the clear victors by a 3-0 margin over Summit Country Day on Tuesday. The victory was some much needed relief for the Wolves as it spelled an end to their three-match losing streak.
Mercy McAuley's got stronger as the match went on, holding Summit Country Day to fewer and fewer points set over set. The match finished with set scores of 25-22, 25-19, 25-17.
Bishop Fenwick better keep an eye on Aubrey Blanton. She was instrumental in Mercy McAuley's win, getting ten digs and two aces.
Mercy McAuley was lethal from the service line and finished the match with ten aces. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now served at least five aces in three consecutive matchups.
Bishop Fenwick's win bumped their record up to 15-6. As for Mercy McAuley, their victory bumped their record up to 7-14.
Here's a few offensive stats to keep an eye on ahead of Thursday's contest: Bishop Fenwick hasn't let much over the net this season, having averaged 6.5 blocks per game. It's a different story for Mercy McAuley, though, as they've been averaging only 0.5 blocks.
