Academy of the Holy Names is 8-2 against Tampa Catholic since February of 2021 and they'll have a chance to extend that dominance on Tuesday. The Jaguars will look to defend their home field against the Crusaders at 6:00 p.m. Both come into the contest bolstered by wins in their previous matches.
On Thursday, Academy of the Holy Names made easy work of Shorecrest Prep and carried off a 12-1 victory. That 11 run margin sets a new team best for the Jaguars this season.
Taylor Williams made a big impact while hitting and pitching. She looked comfortable on the mound, not allowing a single earned run and allowing only one hit over four innings pitched. Williams was also solid in the batter's box, going 1-for-2 with two RBI and one run.

In other batting news, Academy of the Holy Names let Kacey Scott and Elise McQuiston run wild. Scott went 2-for-3 with two runs, two doubles, and one RBI, while McQuiston went a perfect 2-for-2 with three RBI, one run, and one double. Those two doubles gave Scott a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Faith DeRing, who went 1-for-2 with two runs.
Meanwhile, Tampa Catholic entered their tilt with Fort Meade on Wednesday with two consecutive wins, and they'll enter their next game with three. They walked away with a 4-1 win over the Miners. That's two games straight that the Crusaders have won by exactly three runs.
Olivia Ricciardi spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered a run (which was unearned) on three hits.
At the plate, Tampa Catholic's victory was truly a team effort as three different players contributed at least one hit. One of them was Lillie Bridges, who went 1-for-3 with one stolen base and one run.
Tampa Catholic's win was their third straight at home, which pushed their record up to 10-7. Those home victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 6.7 runs over those games. As for Academy of the Holy Names, the win made it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 8-9.
