After having lost a blowout in their previous game against Hermann, the New Bloomfield Wildcats were happy to have found some success on Thursday. They narrowly escaped with a victory as the team sidled past North Callaway 53-51. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest victory New Bloomfield has posted yet this season.
It was another big night for Jacob Fuhriman, who scored 24 points along with three steals and two blocks. He continues to roll, besting his previous point total in each of the last three games he's played. Another player making a difference was Wyatt Jordan, who scored 15 points along with seven rebounds and two steals.
North Callaway lost despite a true team effort on the offense, the best among them being Sam Pezold, who scored 13 points along with eight rebounds and six assists. Clayton Moore was another key contributor, dropping a double-double on ten points and 12 rebounds.
Even though they lost, North Callaway were working as a unit and finished the game with 17 assists. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as New Bloomfield only racked up nine assists.
New Bloomfield has been performing well recently as they've won three of their last four matches, which provided a nice bump to their 6-9 record this season. As for North Callaway, they are on a six-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 3-10.
Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. New Bloomfield will take on Linn at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. As for North Callaway, they will be playing in front of their home fans against Clopton at 6:00 p.m. on Friday.
