The Pen Argyl Green Knights will be playing at home against the Palisades Pirates at 12:45 p.m. on Saturday. Given that the pair suffered a loss in their last game, they both have a little extra motivation heading into this contest.
Pen Argyl suffered their closest loss yet this season on Thursday. They fell just short of Catasauqua by a score of 44-42.
Despite the loss, Pen Argyl saw an underclassman step up: Mason Soos scored 13 points along with seven assists. Another player making a difference was Jack Mclaughlin, who scored seven points along with six rebounds.
Even though they lost, Pen Argyl were working as a unit and finished the game with 12 assists. That's the most assists they've managed all season.
Meanwhile, this season hasn't been kind to Palisades, who are still winless after their eighth contest. They were the victim of a rough 88-63 loss at the hands of Palmerton on Monday. While losing is never fun, Palisades can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Pennsylvania basketball rankings (they are ranked 713th, while Palmerton is ranked 301st).
Pen Argyl's loss dropped their record down to 2-13. As for Palisades, their defeat was their 12th straight at home, which bumped their record down to 0-8.
Pen Argyl strolled past Palisades in their previous meeting on January 4th by a score of 43-24. Will Pen Argyl repeat their success, or does Palisades have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
