The Walton Raiders were the 66-56 winner over the Cherokee Warriors when they last played one another back in February of 2023, but their luck changed this time around. Walton was the victim of a rough 74-53 loss at the hands of Cherokee on Tuesday. While losing is never fun, Walton can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Georgia basketball rankings (they are ranked 187th, while Cherokee is ranked 41st).
Despite the loss, Walton still got an impressive performance from Alice Zhang, who scored 12 points along with five rebounds. The team also got some help courtesy of Graycen Ehlen, who scored 13 points along with six rebounds.
Walton has traveled a rocky road recently, as they've lost six of their last eight games, which put a noticeable dent in their 6-10 record this season. As for Cherokee, their victory bumped their record up to 10-5.
Walton will head out on the road to face off against Kennesaw Mountain at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. Kennesaw Mountain is coming into the game on a three-game losing streak. As for Cherokee, they will look to defend their home court on Friday against North Cobb at 6:00 p.m. North Cobb is coming into the match hot, having won their last four games.
