After having lost a blowout in their previous game against King William, the Carver College and Career Academy Wolverines were happy to have found some success on Wednesday. They pulled ahead with a 29-28 photo finish over West Point. This was payback for Carver College and Career Academy, who suffered a 45-22 defeat the last time these two teams met.
Carver College and Career Academy was led to victory by AJ Sykes and Ianaisia Washington. Sykes scored 15 points along with three steals, while Washington scored nine points along with ten blocks and six rebounds. Washington is absolutely dominating the block category: she's posted at least two every time she's taken the court this season. Laila Nious was another key contributor, scoring five points along with five rebounds and two steals.
Carver College and Career Academy's win bumped their record up to 4-2. As for West Point, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 7-5.
Carver College and Career Academy won't have much time to rest: their next game is against Charles City at 6:00 p.m. on January 18th. As for West Point, they will head out on the road to square off against Mathews at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
