Legacy Christian Academy is 0-4 against Liberty Christian since September of 2021 but things could change on Friday. The Eagles will welcome the Warriors at 7:00 p.m. Both squads will be entering this one on the heels of a big victory.
Legacy Christian Academy is headed in fresh off scoring the most points they have all season. They breezed past Nolan Catholic to the tune of 60-13 on Friday. The final result isn't all that surprising considering the Eagles' considerable advantage in MaxPreps' Texas football rankings (they are ranked 443rd, while the Vikings are ranked 948th).
Jaxson Ladd produced another solid performance rushing for 159 yards and a pair of TDs on only ten carries. He got the majority of those rushing yards when he took off on a run that went for an incredible 90 yards. Brennan Baze was another key player, picking up 124 receiving yards and two scores.
They were just one part of a punishing run game: Legacy Christian Academy was unstoppable on the ground and finished the game with 369 rushing yards. That's the most rushing yards they've posted since back in November of 2024.
Meanwhile, Liberty Christian took their contest on Friday with ease, bagging a 49-13 victory over Bishop Lynch. The Warriors haven't had any issues with the Friars recently, as the game was their fifth consecutive win against them.
Legacy Christian Academy better keep an eye on Quinn Murphy. He was instrumental in Liberty Christian's win, rushing for 71 yards and a pair of touchdowns on only seven carries, while also throwing for 175 yards and two TDs on only 15 passes. Murphy's passing game has become a key predictor of the Warriors' success: the team is undefeated when his passer rating is 110 or higher, but only 2-3 otherwise. Another back making a difference was Correll Buckhalter, who rushed for 131 yards and a pair of scores.
Legacy Christian Academy's victory bumped their record up to 6-3. As for Liberty Christian, their win bumped their record up to an identical 6-3.
Friday's matchup might be decided on the ground. Legacy Christian Academy has been excellent on the ground this season, having averaged 184 rushing yards per game. However, it's not like Liberty Christian struggles in that department as they've been averaging 171 rushing yards. There's a good chance Friday's game turns into a tough fight on the ground.
Legacy Christian Academy lost to Liberty Christian at home by a decisive 71-52 margin in their previous meeting back in November of 2024. Thankfully for the Eagles, Chase Garnett (who rushed for 231 yards and three touchdowns while picking up 12.8 yards per carry) won't be suiting up this time. Will that be enough to change the final result? There's only one way to find out.
