With a playoff win on the line, Center Grove rose to the challenge on Saturday. Everything went their way against the Brownsburg Bulldogs as they made off with a 14-3 victory. The result was nothing new for the Trojans, who have now won 14 matches by six runs or more so far this season.
Gannon Grant made a big impact no matter where he played. On the mound, he struck out six batters over six innings while giving up just two earned (and one unearned) runs off seven hits (and only one walk). He has been nothing but reliable: he hasn't given up more than two walks in three consecutive appearances. He was also big at the plate, getting three hits from his four at bats. That's the most hits he has posted since back in May of 2024.
In other batting news, Center Grove got a massive performance out of Tristan Yerman, who went 4-for-5 with seven RBI and two doubles. Those four hits gave Yerman a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Andrew Krupa, who went 4-for-5 with three runs and three RBI.
Center Grove kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 15 hits. That's the most hits they've managed all season.
The win was the ninth in a row for Center Grove, bringing their record up to 26-4. The victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 9.3 runs over those games. As for Brownsburg, the defeat snapped their winning streak at four games and leaves them with a 17-9 record.
Coming up, Center Grove will square off against Franklin Community at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday. The two teams have allowed few runs on average (the Trojans 2.8, the Grizzly Cubs 3.8) so any runs scored will be well earned. Brownsburg does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
