Brandon is 8-2 against Petal since January of 2017, and they'll have a chance to extend that success on Tuesday. The Brandon Bulldogs will head out on the road to square off against the Petal Panthers at 7:00 p.m. Brandon is coming into the game hot, having won their last three games.
Even though Meridian scored an imposing 68 points on Friday, Brandon still came out on top. Brandon escaped with a win against Meridian by the margin of a single free throw, 69-68.
Braylon Barnes and Nate White were among the main playmakers for Brandon as the former scored 23 points along with six rebounds and the latter dropped a double-double on 20 points and 13 rebounds. The team also got some help courtesy of Ottis Harrison, who scored seven points.
Meanwhile, Petal came up short against Pearl on Friday and fell 59-49. Petal has now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.
Brandon has been performing well recently as they've won five of their last six matches, which provided a massive bump to their 12-9 record this season. As for Petal, their loss ended a five-game streak of wins at home and dropped them to 10-10.
Brandon didn't have too much breathing room in their matchup against Petal in their previous meeting back in December of 2023, but they still walked away with a 57-52 victory. The rematch might be a little tougher for Brandon since the team won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
