It was a good run, but the Modesto Christian Crusaders unfortunately witnessed the end of their three-game winning streak on Monday. They lost to Notre Dame Prep at home by a decisive 64-45 margin. The result shouldn't come as a shock considering that's the fewest points Modesto Christian has scored all season.
Several Crusaders players turned in solid performances, despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Drevon Johnson, who scored eight points along with five rebounds. Gavin Sykes was another key contributor, scoring 11 points along with six rebounds.
Notre Dame Prep's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Anthony Batson jr., who scored 27 points along with five rebounds and three steals. Batson jr. hasn't dropped below two steals for six straight games. The team also got some help courtesy of Bryce Quinet, who scored 15 points along with seven assists and six rebounds.
Modesto Christian's loss ended an eight-game streak of wins at home and dropped them to 13-3. As for Notre Dame Prep, their victory was their fifth straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 18-3.
Modesto Christian will be playing in front of their home fans against West at 7:30 p.m. on Wednesday. Hopefully West focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 11 last Wednesday. Notre Dame Prep on the road again on Thursday and play against Horizon at 7:00 p.m. on January 18th. Horizon will have to bring their A-game into this one, as they are staring down a pretty big deficit in the MaxPreps Arizona Rankings (they are ranked 206th, while Notre Dame Prep is ranked fourth).
